Knee Anatomy – Healthy, Injured and Treated

Knee Anatomy – Healthy, Injured and Treated

The goal of this project was to create close up anatomical 3D models for sports medicine R&D. The focus was to display the healthy joint space of the human knee along with different types of injuries and their surgical treatments.

ACL & PCL injury partial tear

ACL & PCL injury full tear

ACL & PCL treatment

Anterior Cruciate Ligament & Posterior Cruciate Ligament surgery to repair the torn knee ligaments involves replacing the ligaments with a section of healthy tendon. A tendon from the patellar tendon connecting the kneecap to the tibia or from the hamstring. This section is grafted into place after the damaged ligament is removed. The tendon graft may come from the patient (autograft) or from an organ donor (allograft).
